Materials & Specifications

Understanding the materials and design of your scissors helps you choose the right tool for your cutting style. Ichiro Scissors feature premium hardened steel with convex edge blades for lasting sharpness.

Steel Grades

Ichiro Scissors use three tiers of hardened stainless steel, each rated on the Rockwell Hardness Scale (HRC). Higher HRC means a harder blade that stays sharp longer.

Grade HRC Rating Characteristics Used In
Premium Hardened Steel 59-62 HRC Highest quality. Exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance. Rose Gold, Matte Black, Rainbow, Sakura, Sword, Chomper, K10
Great Hardened Steel 57-60 HRC Excellent balance of hardness and durability. Ideal for everyday use. Relax (Apprentice/Student)
Excellent Hardened Steel 57-59 HRC High-grade cutting tool steel. Reliable performance across all techniques. Ergo, Dragon, Left-Handed, Ichiko

Blade Types

Convex Edge Blade

Convex edge blade design

All Ichiro cutting scissors feature convex edge blades — the sharpest and most precise blade type available. The cutting edge is sharpened in a smooth curve, allowing the blade to slide through hair without snagging or pulling.

Convex edge blades are preferred by professionals for:

V-Shaped Thinning Teeth

Ichiro thinning scissors use V-shaped teeth on one blade paired with a convex edge on the other. This design removes hair evenly without leaving visible lines, making them ideal for volume control, texturizing, and blending.

Handle & Ergonomics

Offset Handle Design

Offset ergonomic handle design

Most Ichiro Scissors feature an offset handle design where the thumb hole is positioned lower than the finger hole. This places your hand in a more natural position, reducing strain on the wrist, elbow, and shoulder during long cutting sessions.

Benefits of offset handles:

Allergy-Neutral Coatings

Several Ichiro models feature allergy-neutral color coatings that prevent skin reactions while adding a distinctive look. Available coatings include Rose Gold, Pastel Pink, Matte Black, Rainbow, and Deep Purple.
